Zarifa Adiba is one of the first Afghan female conductors of the Zohra Orchestra, the first all-female Orchestra in the country.

At 15-year-old Zarifa returned to Kabul from Pakistan and enrolled in the Afghanistan National Institute of Music where she started to practice both the violet and the viola. Zarifa is now one of the first Afghan female conductors of the Zohra Orchestra, the first all-female Orchestra in the country.

The musicians performing at the Zohra Orchestra are among the first women in Afganistan that have been studying music in over 30 years.

During a life panel discussion promoted by Afghanaid, Zarifa will discuss the importance of developing initiatives that foster women’s emancipation through music.

Join the discussion today at 5:30pm GMT here: https://www.afghanaid.org.uk/Event/afghanaid-presents-celebrating-music-dance-in-afghanistan
